Hi, This is George Roger the magpie. I hand raised him, after being thrown from his nest in the large oak tree in the yard. I taught him to fend for himself outside and he was doing quite well. George was a fixtrue in this neighborhood and stole several hearts...he learnered to talk!
The Modesto Bee did an article and put video of George on You Tube. If you do a search on You Tube, just put: George Rogers the magpie, in the seach box.
Unfortunatly, George has been missing since Oct.10, and we all miss him. The paper did another story and channel 13 CBS News came out to do a story, as we feel he was bird-napped.
George would say his name "George, George, George" I was trying to teach him to say this and then 'of the jungle' but he never did get that part. He also would say "What cha doo...n?" the funny part...you would answer him.
I also taught him to say "DON'T shoot me!!!" after a nearby farmer told me I'd better teach him, so he wouldn't get shot.
This little bird got me moving again this spring, and he did more for me than I could ever put here. Just know that when you see one of these Californa Yellow Billed Magpie's... he just might talk to you!!!
If you do meet him, tell him to come home....
